Spieth America recommends you regularly inspect and maintain your equipment.

Below are tips on how to properly inspect and care for your equipment ensuring a safe gym for the athletes and coaches. Click here for a printable version of our Equipment Maintenance and Cleaning recommendations outlined below.

Keep Records

  • Start an equipment file
  • File instructions and keep a record of maintenance
  • Keep a list of repairs
  • Every person is responsible for the equipment; however, one person should be assigned to ensure equipment is maintained

Date Equipment

  • Use a marker to write on the equipment base when it was installed
  • All Spieth America Rails and Cables are factory date stamped

Inspection Checklist

  • Check equipment for proper stability, loose fittings, and replace any worn, defective or missing parts
  • Inspect Mats and Floors for tears, soft spots, separation of foam and fatigue
  • Defective Mats and Floors should be removed immediately from service
  • Make sure all nuts and bolts are fastened securely
  • Listen to the equipment - clunks, grinds & bangs are probably a sign
  • Check cables, cable terminations, cable hardware and pivot points and examine these items for wear, loosening and alignment

When to Replace Equipment and Parts

  • Missing, worn or defective parts should be replaced immediately
  • Horizontal Bar and Uneven Rails every 3 years or sooner based on usage
  • All equipment cable tie-downs every 3 years or sooner based on usage
  • Mats or floors with tears, soft spots or separation in the foam
  • All warning or instruction labels that have been marred or removed

If in doubt, do not use the equipment.

Ensure that adequate matting appropriate to the activity is in the correct position.

We do not recommend the modification of our equipment in any way. Unless noted otherwise, parts manufactured by other manufacturers are not interchangeable with Spieth America equipment and vice versa. Any product modifications will negate our responsibility towards product liability and warranty.

CLEANING and MAINTAINING EQUIPMENT

Where Velcro is used, clean with stiff brush to remove lint

Mats - Use a vinegar and water solution to remove chalk and clean off mats

Spin-Snap Locks and Pins - Spray a small amount of Graphite on Spin-Snap Locks and Pins or use a Graphite pencil

Uprights and Bases - Wipe down with water and a towel

Rails - Use Velcro on rail to rub off chalk - do not use water as this will ruin the rail and cancel the
warranty

Floors (Carpet Bonded Foam) - Click to download the care instructions
Suggestions for keeping your carpet bonded floor roll clean*
  • Daily Cleaning: Your mats should be vacuumed daily, before or after each use to remove any loose debris or contaminants.
  • Deep Cleaning: Periodically, the mats should be cleaned with a hot water extraction (or “steam”) cleaner, with a disinfectant such as Odoban®, MicroBan®, or Sporicidin®. Cleaning frequency will depend on your own level of use.
  • Eliminating Odors: To “freshen” the mats between cleanings and eliminate odors, you may spray a light amount of Odoban®.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using any cleaners or disinfectants.
